Digitize Slides

Memories are precious and need to be kept safe to remember those moments. Most people consider buying a slide scanner to digitize old slides. Those who have worked with slide scanners must be familiar with its lengthy process. Most photos may have lost their natural colors and require a little processing to get them in a form where everybody can enjoy seeing them.

The task can be made much easier by creating a light box and placing all digital photographs or slides into it. With just two hours of process, user can devise their own “light box.” The main benefit of the process is that users do not have to spend their money on any equipment except camera. It makes the process much easier getting slides into digital and much faster as compared to slide scanner. Users need to collect some equipment like cardboard box, duct tape, old slide projector with five hundred watt bulb, a white printer paper, black spray paint and plastic vitamin container.

The process goes like this:

• Cut the holes on both ends of cardboard box. Each one is about 3” x 3” size.
• Cover the hole with white printer paper holding it in position with duct tape. This enables the light to go through the box.
• On the other end of box, cut a slot in order to place camera lens. User can also make use of plastic vitamin container to make slide holder stylish.
• Cut 2 notches in rim wide enough to locate a slide into. Remember to cut them rather deep so that slide can be held firmly in place.
• When you are done, spray the slide holder inside the box with flat black paint. When it is dried, glue the slide holder on the base of box facing the light opening. Use slide projector of 500 watt bulb as light source.
• Now just place it on the table to let the light pass through 3” by 3” hole which is covered with white printer paper.
• The focus gap between lens should be over eight inches. It allows taking shot of slide that comprises a small part for the frame that has cropped out during the process.
• Once users have set the focus, it will remain steady from side to side.

This is the easiest way of getting your digitized slides without spending your hard earned money on buying slide scanner which is costly and also time consuming.
