35mm Slides to CD

35mm Slides to CD

Preserving memories in digital form on CD is far much easier than one can suppose. Of course, an individual can make use of a costly digital scanner, intended to move only pictures into the computer, but one can also employ a simpler technique boasting normal scanner to get slide images copied. Once all images are stored on the personal computer, it is quite easy to transfer them to CD. If someone wants to have a successful conversion from 35mm slides to CD, the major things one will need include flatbed scanner, digital imaging scanner, slides, thin cardboard, fluorescent flashlight, writeable discs and writeable CDs drive.

Major steps involved in the conversion

• One can make use of digital imaging scanner if one possesses, otherwise attempt this useful trick: Cut down a thin even cardboard to precise size of scanning area. In the mid of the cardboard, make a square shaped hole having the similar size as that of slides. Another easy way can be to position slide on cardboard and mark out with pencil, then slash the structure with sharp knife.

• Now, place that cardboard on scanner screen, strip it into the exact place along edges. On top, only a hole will be noticeable and this is where one will put slides, only one at a time for scanning purpose.

• Put slide in a ready hole and position fluorescent flashlight on the top. Start scanning after turning on the flashlight. All images will be moved to system, one has to repeat similar procedure for all slides.

• Crop or edit images after the completion of scanning. While one burns them out to disk, he or she will be able to observe cardboard slide limit.

• Now place a CD in the drive and select all images simply by choosing Ctrl A. Now, choose the option copy from menu items at top left of window; a message box will appear asking one to choose the location for storing images. Click on CD, name it and then press OK to start the process.

It is advisable not to open as well as close too many windows during the entire burning process. Moreover, one can also label cd for trouble-free reference.

However, before one starts moving all photographs to CD for slide shows or other presentations, it is better to review them all in order to ensure adequate size or orientation.
