Scan Photos to CD

Digital Pictures

Who would not love to give a facelift to the torn and faded old photos? Now it is possible to take those old worn out photos from albums and scan them to CD’s. The process of editing and creating digital photos is quite simple and very sensible. The photos that are digitally restored can be used to make digital scrapbooks, shred through emails, or posted in many sites and even printed to be displayed and gifted.

To carryout photo restoration, one need not be a graphic designer or technology proficient; only a scanner, a computer and some quality programs on graphics are required.

Basic Scanning Steps for Digital Images

The first step is to check the photos and sort out those which are dirty or have lint and smudge. The basic is to remove the dust and dirt from the surface with soft brush or photo wipe. The canned air which is available at the stores can be used to blast off lint and dust from photos.

The next step is to ensure that scanner glass is free of dust and lint, finger prints, hair and smudges. One can use lint free wipes which are safe to clear glass. Household cleaners may also be used to clean scanner glass, provided it is sprayed on the wipes first and not directly applied on the scanner glass. While handling the photographs and scanner it is good to wear hand gloves to avoid finger prints on the photos and scanner.

In the scan photos to CD process, one may select the choice of color or black and white photos. The family photos are best to be scanned in color, even if the photograph source is black and white. There will be more options for manipulation, and one can alter color photographs into black and white, if required.

Easy Scanning to CD’s

To ensure the quality and effectiveness of the digital photos, one should determine the best resolution for scanning. The best resolution will depend on the snaps that are saved or printed. It is good to scan the photos at 300 dpi to assure quality which is useful for improvement and restoration techniques. When it is required to be stored in CD’s and hard drives, 600dpi or higher resolution will be ideal.

The photographs have to be positioned carefully on the scanner glass, to ensure that images are straight and no part is cut off and the snap shots are free of dust and lint. Select the previewed snaps to include the actual photos that need to be scanned. It is not necessary to correct images while scanning, as the graphics software can be used to solve the purpose.
