A film scanner is a device which can convert an image on a film negative or a slide into a digital image file, which can be used on a computer. But the problem with the charge coupled device is its geometric accuracy is not good so you can’t use this to scan your engineering drawings, maps or large size. For scanning the films which should be geometrically accurate, it’s better to use the color image sensor because it has better resolving power. The resolution of the scanner is described in dpi (dots per linear inch).

The large format film scanning gives better quality image as compared to 35mm film scanning as the resolution will be high and the enlargement that has to be is also less for large format films. The quality of the image obtained after print will also be good as it captures bright colors, and removes the maximum dust, to make the image clear and scratch free.
